I'm really sorry you've had trouble. I was shocked myself to find out that it wasn't able to be set as public. But I then found out that it can, you just have to do it using the empty shell method. Unfortunately that means you have to decorate it after you make it public. I'm really sorry for the inconvenience, but because its part of the mesh, and not the derivation, there's no way for me to change it. Sorry again.
